Franciscan Jamboree 2025: God, Creation and Me
LASALLE HOUSE
This Jamboree, we commemorated the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures with a retreat centered on Creation. Through the sessions, we learned to see God more clearly in creation—in nature, in others, and in ourselves—and were invited to become better stewards of the world around us.
Jamboree is also a time for all branches of our FYA fraternities to come together, deepening our bonds and fostering connections.

Human Formation—Our Mission
CHURCH OF ST BERNADETTE (AV1 & AV2)
In this Human Formation, Sr Yna Oñate from the Cenacle sisters had kindly joined us to share more about the heart of mission, both local and overseas. Through touching and playful anecdotes, she reminded us that to be sent to mission is a privilege from God, and that even in the midst of poverty and suffering, God can continue to stretch our heart.

Fraternitas Mission at CHARIS Humanitarian Forum & Fair 2025
ST JOSEPH’S INSTITUTION JUNIOR
On 14th June 2025, Fraternitas took our mission beyond our own community at the CHARIS Humanitarian Forum & Fair 2025, sharing our vision for the upcoming outreach to St. Fransiskus School in Jakarta. There, connected with the wider Church and highlighted our mission for the formation, education and care for teachers, children, and the poor.

Celebrating 5 Years of Fraternitas

On 12 May 2025, Franciscan Young Adults celebrated 5 years of journeying together in faith, fraternity, and the Franciscan spirit. From mass, fellowship to the launch of limited edition merch—it is a joyful reminder of God’s grace in our community.
We are grateful to all who joined us and everyone who has supported FYA over the years. Here’s to continuing the journey together!

St Bonaventure: The Soul’s Journey into God
CANA THE CATHOLIC CENTRE (LEVEL 2)
For 2025’s Franciscan Formation, FYA dived into the spiritual richness of St Bonaventure’s ‘the Soul’s Journey into God’ through Fr Bill Shorts’ video series and Fr Derrick’s moderation. St Bonaventure teaches that the soul returns to God through a journey of six stages, moving from seeing God in creation, to seeing Him within oneself, and finally entering into loving union with Him—where knowledge gives way to love.

Theology of the Body
CANA THE CATHOLIC CENTRE (LEVEL 2)
In 2025, FYA explored Theology of the Body for our Human Formation. Theology of the Body is a series of 129 addresses delivered by Pope John Paul II during his audiences from 1979-1984, which brings insight on the human person and sexuality. This series explored what it meant to love with clarity, integrity, and responsibility— moving from the distortions of desire to the beauty of integration.

Franciscan Youth ‘SENT’ 2024
PENANG, MALAYSIA
SENT is an annual post-confirmation trip to Penang for Sec 3 post-confirmands, organised by Franciscan Youth. The trip aimed to provide participants with a sense of mission and belonging following their Sacrament of Confirmation; to be sent forth after having been empowered by their receiving of the Holy Spirit at Confirmation.

It offered a platform for individuals to gather, fostering connections and understanding among members from our FYA branches and Fraternitas fraternities.

Frair Dan Horan, OFM is a new generation Franciscan theologian who has written and spoken on Franciscan theology, philosophy and spirituality. He is the author of Dating God: Live and Love in the way of St Francis where he sought to present the foundations of a relationship with God from the unique lens of a millennial friar.

Franciscan Contemplation with Poor Clares Galway

The Poor Clares (officially the Order of St Clare or the Second Franciscan Order) are nuns who live together in a cloistered community and take vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. The sisters do not leave their monastery except, to quote St Clare, for “a useful, reasonable, evident and approved purpose”. The Poor Clares spend most of their days in prayer and contemplation. They are the prayer powerhouses of the Franciscan order.

Beauty and Franciscan Spirituality with Fr John Quigley

Fra. Quigley is an accomplished public speaker and artist. He leads annual pilgrimages to Rome and Assisi to explore the lives and times of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi. He preaches conferences and presentations based on Franciscan spirituality – in particular, St Francis and John Duns Scotus. Since 2009 he paints in his studio in Cincinnati, Ohio.
